New Open-Source C2 Framework AdaptixC2 Debuts With Improved Stability and Speed

The open-source community has received a major update with the release of AdaptixC2 Version 1.0.

This new version brings significant enhancements to the Command and Control (C2) framework, with a focus on network stability, user interface (UI) performance, and operational speed.

The most notable technical improvement in Version 1.0 is the complete overhaul of the network tunnels.

The developers have reworked SOCKS4 and SOCKS5 tunnels on both the client and server sides.

These tunnels are now fully compliant with RFC standards, enabling more reliable port scanning.

Additionally, the SOCKS5 implementation now supports IPv6 for both the Client and TeamServer, ensuring broader network compatibility.

For operators using the framework, the visual experience has been redesigned for better usability.

The session graph now supports a Top-Bottom layout with new icons, making it easier to visualize active connections.

To help operators distinguish between traffic sources, sessions are now clearly marked as “TunS” (tunnel via TeamServer) or “TunC” (tunnel via client).

AdaptixC2 has also addressed common performance issues found in C2 frameworks. The client now interacts with the server using asynchronous functions.

This change, combined with new text-batching capabilities, prevents the user interface from freezing during processing of large amounts of data.

Key Features and Updates in Version 1.0

Beyond the core stability fixes, the update introduces powerful new tools for Red Team operations.

ComponentKey Improvement
Network TunnelsSOCKS4/5 completely reworked for speed; added IPv6 support.
User InterfaceRedesigned session graph, added Dark/Light themes, and tab blinking animations.
Terminal / ShellImplemented Remote Shell (Non-PTY) and SSH-like Remote Terminal.
Extension KitAdded new BOFs including LDAP, DCSync, nbtscan, and runas.
PerformanceAsynchronous execution and text batching to stop UI freezes.

The “Extension-Kit” has been expanded with several new Beacon Object Files (BOFs), including tools for LDAP reconnaissance and DCSync attacks.

The release also includes a new “Remote Shell” implementation and an SSH-like Remote Terminal that supports fast input and multiple terminal tabs.

Users upgrading to Version 1.0 should note that this is a breaking change. The database structures for the client and server have been modified and are not backward compatible with previous versions.

This release was made possible by several contributors on GitHub, including shashinma, P0142, bri5ee, and BlackMeerkat, who assisted with everything from UI animations to critical bug fixes in the Gopher agent.
