Anthropic Prepares Claude Mythos for Wider Release Through Claude Code

Anthropic is preparing to expand access to its most advanced AI model, Claude Mythos, signaling a shift from tightly controlled deployment to a staged commercial rollout under a new version labeled Mythos 1.

The move suggests the company is transitioning from experimental security use cases toward broader enterprise integration.

Claude Mythos first emerged in March 2026 following an internal data leak that revealed thousands of unpublished assets, including documentation describing it as Anthropic’s most powerful AI system to date.

Shortly after, Anthropic confirmed the model and highlighted its major improvements in cybersecurity analysis, software development, and complex reasoning.

Instead of releasing it publicly, the company launched Project Glasswing in April 2026, a restricted cybersecurity initiative involving over 40 major partners, including AWS, Microsoft, Google, and CrowdStrike.

Within weeks, Mythos demonstrated its capability by identifying more than 10,000 high- and critical-severity vulnerabilities across widely used open-source projects.

Mythos Moves Toward Enterprise Integration

Recent developments indicate a strategic shift. References to “claude-mythos-1-preview” have appeared in the source code and internal interfaces, indicating an upcoming commercial version integrated into Claude Code and a redesigned Claude Security platform.

Screenshots briefly surfaced showing the Mythos 1 label within the Claude user interface, confirming active testing. This aligns with updates from Project Glasswing, which now suggests Mythos-class models could eventually be released more broadly once sufficient safeguards are in place.

Claude Code, Anthropic’s developer-focused environment, is expected to leverage Mythos 1 for advanced code analysis and agent-driven workflows. Meanwhile, Claude Security is evolving into a full-featured vulnerability management platform.

Originally launched in February 2026 as a limited preview powered by Claude Opus 4.7, Claude Security focuses on scanning codebases and generating patch recommendations. The platform is currently available to enterprise users, with wider access planned.

New interface updates reveal a dedicated Security dashboard featuring:

  • Continuous automated vulnerability scans.
  • On-demand manual scanning options.
  • Patch suggestions delivered through pull requests.
  • Historical tracking with 7-day and 30-day vulnerability trends.
  • Enhanced triage insights for faster remediation.

Anthropic’s disclosure data highlights the system’s growing impact: 1,596 vulnerabilities have been identified across 281 open-source projects, though only a fraction have been patched so far.

The architecture supports scalable, continuous monitoring, making it suitable for enterprise DevSecOps pipelines. Notably, a standalone “Security” tab is being developed within the Claude ecosystem, positioning the tool as a productized offering rather than a limited-access feature.

Anthropic is also reportedly testing Claude Opus 4.8 internally, continuing its rapid model iteration cycle. Previous versions introduced safeguards designed to prevent misuse, particularly in offensive cybersecurity scenarios.

The broader strategy appears deliberate: introduce Mythos 1 within controlled enterprise environments, refine safety mechanisms, and gradually expand access.

Given the model’s demonstrated ability to detect large-scale vulnerabilities, its wider release could significantly reshape automated threat detection, while also raising concerns about potential misuse if not carefully governed.
