Cartoon Network Leak Exposes 200GB of Source Files, Storyboards and Animation Assets

A large cache of internal Cartoon Network production material is circulating online. It reportedly exceeds 200GB and includes source files, storyboards and animation assets from several decades of shows.

Fans have nicknamed it the “Classic CN Gigaleak.” The size, origin and completeness of the data have not been independently verified.

Cartoon Network leak

According to reports highlighted by IndiaTimes, discussions began spreading across online communities around October 9 and 10. They describe files allegedly taken from a private asset archive. Some claims put the total collection as high as 1TB, but the figure most often cited for Cartoon Network material is just over 200GB.

The data reportedly includes Flash animation projects, editable character rigs, layered Photoshop documents, model sheets, storyboards and animatics, and internal production guides.

These are working production files rather than finished episodes or promotional images. That makes them more sensitive than ordinary media leaks, because they reveal how studios build, organise and manage their pipelines.

FranchiseReported content
The Amazing World of GumballOriginal Flash episode files and editable puppet rigs from Seasons 1 and 2
Regular ShowCharacter portraits, size charts, backgrounds and official style guides
Adventure TimeStoryboards, animatics and production artwork, reportedly around 90GB
Other titlesThe Powerpuff Girls, Ed, Edd n Eddy, Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends, Dexter’s Laboratory, Johnny Bravo, The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy, Camp Lazlo
Additional mentionsJohnny Test, Looney Tunes Cartoons and older Hanna-Barbera assets

The exact contents and completeness of each folder remain unclear. The Gumball material, if verified in full, would be especially detailed.

Social media users reacted with a mix of excitement, disbelief and jokes. One widely shared post said the leak had effectively “open sourced” the network. Others described browsing folders ranging from Powerpuff Girls pitch material to Regular Show storyboards.

Some users compared the incident to the Nintendo Gigaleak, which exposed extensive game development material and drove years of discussion among fans and preservationists.

Aspiring animators are especially interested. Source files show how professional artists structure timelines, build characters and create movement.

Some users have tied the timing to uncertainty around Warner Bros. Discovery and its reported dealings with Paramount and Skydance.

No verified evidence connects the leak to a merger, restructuring or deliberate release by anyone inside the companies. The person or group behind the disclosure is also unidentified. Claims about motive should be treated as speculation.

Large archives like this typically point to one of several causes, including compromised credentials, misconfigured cloud storage, exposed asset-management systems, an insider copying data, or a third-party vendor or freelancer breach.

None of these has been confirmed here. Neither Cartoon Network nor Warner Bros. Discovery has been cited as confirming the authenticity or source of the data in the reports available.

The material is almost certainly copyrighted, so redistribution carries legal risk. Archives shared through unofficial channels can also be bundled with malware or modified files.

Anyone downloading large archives from unverified sources risks malicious executables, booby-trapped project files and credential-stealing payloads. Flash, Photoshop and legacy project formats add risk if opened outside isolated environments.

Organisations that hold large creative asset libraries should review access controls and multi-factor authentication, vendor and contractor permissions, cloud storage exposure, and logging and anomaly detection for bulk downloads.

Updates are expected if the companies issue statements or if investigators identify how the data left the archive.
