Dell Hacked – Data Breach Exposed Names, Email addresses & Hashed Passwords

Dell announced a critical data breach incident and the attackers performed unauthorized activities in Dell.com customers sensitive information.

Dell is an American multinational computer technology company based in Round Rock, Texas, United States, that develops, sells, repairs, and supports computers and related products and services.

Data breach may have been exposed the Dell users names, email addresses and hashed passwords and the announcement revealed on  November 9, 2018.

Security experts found no evidence that any data was extracted by the attackers though some of the sensitive information has been removed from Dell networks.

Dell Press Release Statement said,” These include the hashing of our customers’ passwords and a mandatory Dell.com password reset. Credit card and other sensitive customer information was not targeted. The incident did not impact any Dell products or services.”

The Fact, Since the password has been hashed, it needs to be reversed in order to use it and it gives an extra layer of security.

Also, Dell working with a digital forensics firm to conduct an independent investigation and also engaged with law enforcement agencies.

Dell urged all the users of Dell.com to reset their passwords if they used the same password elsewhere.

Dell will continue to invest in its information technology networks and security to detect and prevent the risk of unauthorized activity.
