Google Finalizes $32 Billion Deal to Acquire Wiz
Google Cloud has officially completed its acquisition of cloud security leader Wiz, marking a significant consolidation in the cybersecurity landscape.
Operating under its retained brand within Google Cloud, Wiz will integrate its code-to-cloud security platform with Google’s existing enterprise security infrastructure.
This move aims to address the increasingly complex attack surfaces generated by agile software development, multicloud architectures, and the rapid enterprise adoption of generative AI technologies.
The acquisition comes at a critical time as threat actors increasingly leverage AI to accelerate the speed and sophistication of their attacks.
Simultaneously, organizations are feeding business-critical data into AI models, introducing novel exposure pathways and vulnerabilities specific to AI workloads.
To counteract this, Google and Wiz are combining deep multicloud visibility with AI-infused security workflows.
Wiz’s core capability to build real-time maps of application architecture, permissions, and runtime behavior will now be backed by Google’s massive threat telemetry, allowing defenders to secure modern environments at the speed they are built.
Wiz’s proactive risk assessment and exposure management capabilities will integrate directly into Google Unified Security.
This existing ecosystem includes Google Threat Intelligence, Google Security Operations, and the frontline incident response expertise of Mandiant Consulting.
By connecting code, cloud, and runtime into a single shared context, the combined platform allows security and engineering teams to identify exploitable attack paths and prioritize risk based on actual business impact.
Security operations teams can utilize this shared context to investigate and halt active attacks against critical workloads, fostering better collaboration between developers and defenders to fix vulnerabilities directly at the source.
Despite the acquisition, Google confirmed that Wiz will remain cloud-agnostic, continuing to support environments across Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and Oracle Cloud Platform.
The integrated platform promises several key technical advantages for enterprise security teams:
