Thousands of Printers Hacked Worldwide & Hackers Promote PewDiePie YouTube Channel To Subscribe

Someone hacked thousand of the printers worldwide and promoted to subscribe the worlds most followed youtube channel  “PewDiePie” with 72.5 million YouTube subscribers which are owned by Felix Kjellberg, Swedish YouTuber.

PewDiePie is the leader of the most subscribed youtube channel for more than a year now and an another Youtube channel from India called “T-Series” currently has over 72 million subscribers is the biggest competitor with PewDiePie.

Unknown hacker compromises as many printers around the world and promoted the PewDiePie channel to beat the “T-Series”.

Past couple of days many of the Twitter users reported that unsolicited printouts from internet-connected printers that say that PewDiePie needs their help to gain more subscribers since there will be a chance “T-Series” to beat and replace the #1 position.

Hacked printers out the prints that says, “PewDiePie, the currently most subscribed to channel on YouTube, is at stake of losing his position as the number one position by an Indian company called T-Series that simply uploads videos of Bollywood trailers and campaigns”

Apart from this, The hacker by the twitter name ‘TheHackerGiraffe,’ claimed that he essentially combined “two ideas into one” by spreading awareness of device vulnerability and promoting PewDiePie’s channel simultaneously.

In this case, he found more than 800,000 printers that available to access and exposed to the public internet and decided to attack 50,000 of them.

Also, he said to The Verge,“ People underestimate how easy a malicious hacker could have used a vulnerability like this to cause major havoc,” “Hackers could have stolen files, installed malware, caused physical damage to the printers and even use the printer as a foothold into the inner network.

“The most horrifying part is: I never considered hacking printers before, the whole learning, downloading and scripting process took no more than 30 minutes.”

Also, he left a Tweet that says, “India you listen to me, back off with your whack music and movies okay and stay the f*ck away from pewds”

Hackers took advantage of an open network port available on hundreds of thousands of printers worldwide. This is a known vulnerability that allows printers to receive data. To do it, the hacker claims that they used a tool called PRET that, according to its GitHub page
