Microsoft Defender ATP Antivirus is now Available For Android Users in Public Preview

Microsoft announces the public preview of Microsoft Defender ATP for Android, if you are an Android user who wants an extra layer of security Antivirus from trusted sources would be a perfect choice.

Nowadays most of the business are moving towards mobile devices, the threats targeting mobile devices are also growing fast.

Features of Microsoft Defender for Android

Microsoft said that Microsoft Defender ATP for Android will offer protection against phishing and unsafe network connections from apps, websites, and malicious apps.

They also provide an ability to restrict the restrict access to corporate data, so that enterprises can secure users’ data on Android devices and monitor through Microsoft Defender Security Center.

“Microsoft is taking a holistic approach to tackling these challenges and to securing enterprises and their data with our new mobile threat defense capabilities,” said Rob Lefferts, Corporate Vice President.

Microsoft Defender ATP for Android allows administrators to configure web security features and to enable web protection features.

“Microsoft Defender ATP for Android uses cloud protection powered by deep learning and heuristics to provide coverage for low-fidelity signals which are inconclusively handled by signatures, in addition to offering signature-based malware detection,” reads the blog post.

If the Microsoft Defender ATP detects malicious apps installed, it will classify the apps as high risk and will flag it in the Microsoft Defender Security Center.

Microsoft plans to bring more capabilities in the upcoming months and they are planning to release Defender ATP for iOS later this year.

Following are the Requirements

  • Android devices running Android 6.0 and above.
  • Intune Company Portal app is downloaded from Google Play and installed. Device enrollment is required for Intune device compliance policies to be enforced.
