What You Need to Know About the New iPhone 11

The wait is almost over as Apple has confirmed the release of 3 brand new iPhones due to hit the stores on 20th September: the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and the iPhone 11 Pro Max. There’s always plenty of buzz and anticipation when Apple brings a new product to market and this time is no exception. Apple has included a range of new technology and design features in an effort to make the iPhone 11 their best yet, but what is there to shout about? This guide tells you the essential information you need to know about these brand new phones so you can decide if it’s worth investing in an upgrade.

New A13 Bionic Chip

Apple’s new A13 chip is claimed to be the “fastest CPU and GPU in a smartphone” operating around 20% faster than the A12 which was in the 2018 models. The chip makes the Face ID feature around 30% faster and will support several angles for unlocking. It has been designed for machine learning, including real-time photo and video analysis and the CPU can deliver one trillion operations per second. There is also a new U1 sensor – R1 or ‘Rose’ which enables the iPhone to detect its location in 3D space with more accuracy.

What’s the screen like?

The iPhone 11’s  6.1-inch Liquid Retina LCD Display features wide color support and True Tone while the iPhone 11 Pro has a 5.8-inch OLED Super Retina XDR Display. The iPhone Pro Max features a 6.5-inch Super Retina XDR display which Apple claim to be the brightest display yet for an HDR experience as well as a 2 million-to-one contrast ratio. The display is reportedly much more energy-efficient and uses Haptic Touch rather than 3D touch. If you are planning on investing in an iPhone 11, consider getting yourself one of the BodyGuardz new iPhone protectors to keep your investment in top condition.

What’s the battery capacity?

Compared to its predecessor, the iPhone 11 will have an hour longer on its battery life, the iPhone 11 Pro will have 4 hours more, and the iPhone Pro Max will have 5 hours more. The range also includes an18W fast-charge power adapter and can charge on a wireless charging mat. The new iPhone 11 models will use Lightning charging rather than USB-C, although it’s possible that 2020 iPhones will use USB-C.

How good is the camera/audio?

The iPhone 11 has a dual lens system which enables a 120 degree field of vision thanks to the Ultra-Wide angle lens and new sensors. The iPhone 11 Pro features a triple-lens system including Wide, Ultra-Wide and Telephoto lenses and also provides a 4x optical zoom range and can capture images outside the screen.

Deep Fusionworks with the A13 Bionic chip to produce advanced machine learning so it can analyze every pixel and optimize the quality of your photos through highlighting, shadowing and texture. The automatic Night Mode will also improve the quality of photos taken in dark light.

The 12MP wide-angle TrueDepth camera can record in 4K (at 60fps or 120fps for slow-motion video) with cinematic video stabilization as well as extended dynamic range, plus there is Audio Zoom which matches audio to video frames for a more dynamic sound.

The iPhone 11 models will all support Dolby Atmos as well as spatial audio which provides a more immersive audio effect.

Wireless connectivity?

The iPhone 11 will support Wi-Fi 6 and Gigabit-class LTE while the Pro models will support speeds of up to 1.86Gbps. The iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro are compatible with eSIM and Dual SIM.

Is there a choice of design?

There are several color options with all 3 models of iPhone 11. The iPhone is available in black, white, red, purple, yellow and green and has a precision sculpted and milled back which is made from glass. The iPhone 11 has a water resistance rating of 2 meters for up to 30 minutes.

The iPhone Pro and Pro Max models have a matte glass back which is textured, a stainless steel band and a water resistance rating of 4 meters for up to 30 minutes. The iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max are available in gold, silver, midnight green and space gray.

The iPhone 11 models have been designed with the toughest glass Apple has ever used.

When will the new iPhones be released?

While the new iPhone models won’t be available to buy physically until September 20th 2019, you can pre-order from 5 am on September 13th to get your hands on one ASAP. The iPhone 11 is priced from $699 while the iPhone 11 Pro starts at $999 and the Pro Max is priced from $1099.
