Microsoft OneDrive Personal Vault Available for Everyone with 2FA to Secure Sensitive Files

Microsoft OneDrive Personal Vault now is available for everyone, it is a protected area in OneDrive to store important and sensitive data.

The OneDrive Personal Vault allows users to protect the files with strong authentication method or 2FA methods such as faceID, PIN, fingerprint, code to Email or SMS.

The data stored in personal vault are accessible on Onedrive.com, Mobile devices, your PC, or other capable devices. Just need to complete the second step of verification.

“OneDrive runs on the trusted Microsoft cloud, which has many security measures in place to keep your files safe. But we understand that some people want more protection for their most important and sensitive files, which is why we’re introducing Personal Vault,” Microsoft said.

The personal vault includes security features such as “encryption at rest and in transit, suspicious activity monitoring, ransomware detection and recovery, mass file deletion notification and recovery, virus scanning on download for known threats, and version history for all file types.”

Also, you shoot video’s and pictures directly into your Vault, instead of storing them in other areas which are less secure.

Sometimes uses to fail to lock the storage after accessing files, but with Personal Vault, it relocks automatically after a certain period of inactivity,

Also, Microsoft increases the storage capacity for a standalone plan from 50 GB to 100 GB with no additional charge. User’s with OneDrive free plan can also try personal vault for free, with a limited number of files.

Personal Vault was announced on June 25, 2019, initially, it is available in Australia, New Zealand, and Canada and from September 6, 2019, the vault is available to everyone.
