Palo Alto Cortex XSOAR Flaw in Microsoft Teams Integration Lets Attackers Access Data

Palo Alto Networks has released a high-priority security update to address a serious vulnerability in its Cortex XSOAR and Cortex XSIAM platforms.

Tracked as CVE-2026-0234, this security flaw exists within the Microsoft Teams integration. If successfully exploited, it allows an unauthenticated attacker to access and modify protected resources, prompting the vendor to assign the patch its highest level of urgency.

Cortex XSOAR (Security Orchestration, Automation, and Response) and XSIAM (Extended Security Intelligence and Automation Management) are vital tools used by security operation centers to automate threat responses.

Integrating these tools with Microsoft Teams allows security personnel to collaborate on active incidents efficiently. Unfortunately, a flaw in how this integration handles security checks has created a severe vulnerability.

The core issue stems from an improper verification of a cryptographic signature, categorized technically as CWE-347.

In a secure network, cryptographic signatures act like digital wax seals, proving that incoming data is authentic and has not been tampered with in transit.

Because the Microsoft Teams integration in these Cortex platforms fails to properly validate these digital signatures, a remote attacker can spoof their identity.

This oversight effectively tricks the system into granting access without requiring a valid username, password, or any user interaction. Once inside, an attacker gains the ability to silently access and alter protected data.

Because organizations use these platforms to manage their entire security posture, unauthorized modifications could potentially disrupt incident response workflows, mask malicious network activity, or expose sensitive threat intelligence to outside parties.

The vulnerability carries a Base CVSS 4.0 score of 9.2, reflecting its severe nature. While the flaw requires no initial privileges or user interaction, the attack complexity is rated as high.

This means a threat actor would need specific environmental conditions or advanced technical knowledge to pull off the intrusion successfully.

Affected Systems and Remediation

This vulnerability impacts specific versions of the Microsoft Teams Marketplace integration used by Palo Alto Networks platforms. Organizations are currently at risk if they are running the following builds:

  • Cortex XSIAM Microsoft Teams Marketplace 1.5 (versions 1.5.0 through 1.5.51).
  • Cortex XSOAR Microsoft Teams Marketplace 1.5 (versions 1.5.0 through 1.5.51).

Palo Alto Networks strongly urges administrators to upgrade their Microsoft Teams Marketplace integration to version 1.5.52 or later immediately.

Because there are no known temporary workarounds or mitigations available to block this threat, applying the official patch is the only valid method to secure the affected environments.
