Pizza Hut hacked and some of its clients who utilized the fast food chain’s website and application were influenced by the data breach.
As indicated by the email, shared via social media by a few recipients, affected clients placed orders on the company’s mobile app or website within the morning of October 1 and noon of October 2 approximately 28hrs.
Pizza Hut breach followed by Major breaches Accenture, Equifax, Deloitte, Forrester, Disqus, Yahoo R6DB Database and the incidents were reported within the little span of time.
Although Pizza Hut supposedly conveyed messages advising its clients of the data breach, after two weeks from the date company’s website was hacked.
“Pizza Hut has recently identified a temporary security intrusion that occurred on our website,” as Pizza Hut wrote in the email.
“We have learned that the information of some customers who visited our website or mobile application during an approximately 28-hour period (from the morning of October 1, 2017, through midday on October 2, 2017) and subsequently placed an order may have been compromised.
Pizza Hut added, “They identified the security intrusion quickly and took immediate action to halt it”.
Also, the company said, “The security intrusion at issue impacted a small percentage of our customers and we estimate that less than one percent of the visits to our website over the course of the relevant week were affected”.
Some of the reports saying around 60,000 people across the U.S. were affected.A customer service representative confirmed to Thrillist that credit card details were likely a part of the hack, alongside personal information.
