Dark Web Market Silk Road Admin Pleads Guilty, Prison Up to 20 Years

The administrator of most infamous dark web market pleased guilty In Manhattan Federal Court for selling over $200 million worth of Illegal drugs and Other Contraband.

The 30-year-old Irish Man Gary Davis who goes with the online handle “Libertas” works as a site admin in Silk Road between June to October 2, 2013, was arrested in January 2014 and he was Extradited to the U.S in last July.

Silk Road Admin Davis pleaded guilty before United States District Judge Jesse M. Furman in conspiring to distribute massive quantities of narcotics. He is to carry the maximum sentence period of about 20 years in prison.

He was scheduled to be sentenced on January 17, 2019, at 3:30 p.m, Davis Charged to distribute narcotics, computer intrusion, and money laundering.

Silk Road was operated between January 2011, up to October 2, 2013, it was the most famous black-market on the Internet, where illegal goods and other illicit services offered.

“During its more than two-and-a-half years in operation, Silk Road was used by several thousand drug dealers and other unlawful vendors to distribute hundreds of kilograms of illegal drugs and other illicit goods and services to well over 100,000 buyers and to launder hundreds of millions of dollars derived from these unlawful transactions.” reads DoJ press release.

Davis worked as a Silk Road Admin between June 2013 up to October 2, 2013, following are his roles.

1. Responding to customer support requests from Silk Road.

2. Serving as a Judge between buyer and seller.

3. Enforcing rules for business on the silk road.

Manhattan U.S. Attorney Geoffrey S. Berman said: “Silk Road was a secret online marketplace for illegal drugs, hacking services, and a whole host of other criminal activity. As he admitted today, Gary Davis served as an administrator who helped run the Silk Road marketplace.”
