The 5 Best File Transfer Apps

We live in times when USB, disks and other storage devices are becoming more and more obsolete and cables are becoming less and less useful. That’s why we need agile options for transferring documents from one device to another.

In this sense, we are going to dedicate today’s article to introduce you to the 5 best file transfer apps. Specifically, we present you with the most complete and easy-to-use options, and they’re free too!

1. Share Me

Share Me, formerly known as Mi Drop, is the number one file transfer app in the world. Share Me, developed by Xiaomi Inc, is very intuitive and easy to use.

Just download it, open it and select the action you want to perform: send (on the left) and receive (on the right).

To receive, the other user must have the app open and approve receipt of the file(s). The transfer is quite fluid, despite the size of the files.

On the other hand, this app also allows transferring files of any format between devices connected to the same network or even without being connected to the internet.

2. AirDroid

AirDroid offers one of the fastest ways to transfer files: drag and drop. Simply select the device you want to transfer to, choose the files and drag them. The application immediately creates a copy of the documents on the target device.

AirDroid allows you to connect to nearby devices via Bluetooth connection or between contacts using the same app and added to your friends list.

AirDroid allows you to connect to a computer through its web version. To do this you must go to from your PC and scan the QR code from the AirDroid App. This way you can transfer files from your phone to your computer and vice versa, without cables or connections.

The only “but” of AirDroid is that, unlike the other applications listed, you must create an account or log in with Facebook or Gmail. But, to enjoy the benefits, it’s well worth it. Also, you should know that AirDroid is available for Android and iOS.

3. Xender

Xender takes file transfer to another level, with Xender, in addition to transferring photos, videos, music and documents, it also allows you to migrate settings and even applications from one phone to another. Ideal for when you switch devices.

Xender’s interface has a send and receive button on the home screen, but it also offers other functionalities other than file transfer, ranging from: saving WhatsApp statuses, downloading videos from Instagram, Facebook and Twitter and even downloading YouTube videos converted to MP3.

If there is something to criticise about Xender, it is the full screen ads that, from time to time, you have to close, but it is part of what we have to put up with when we use free services. The app is also available for Android and iOS.

4. SHAREit

With a fairly simple interface, SHAREit allows you to transfer files very easily between devices, even without an internet connection. It is also recommended for large transfers, as there are no weight limits for sending or receiving documents through it.

In addition to transferring files, SHAREit allows you to organise files on your smartphone or tablet, delete cache and discard junk files on your devices. SHAREit is available for Android and iOS

5. Smash

Smash is perhaps one of the easiest applications for transferring files. Once you download and open it, just select the file(s) you want to share and tap “done”. The app will create a unique link for you to send to the person you want to share the files with.

With Smash there are no limits. You can send anything from a 30KB image to 5TB+ backups, to name a number, but there is no limit on size or weight. It is available for Android and iOS.
