Accidentally Deleted an Important File? Free Microsoft Windows File Recovery Tool Help You to Recover Data

Microsoft announced a new Windows File Recovery tool that helps to recover lost files that have been deleted from your local storage device.

The tool helps you in recovering photos, documents, videos, and more avoids your permanent data loss.

Windows File Recovery Tool

The tool helps you to recover the lost file that was deleted from the local storage such as internal drives, external drives, and USB devices.

The files deleted from the Recycle Bin can’t be restored, also the tool not supported recovery for cloud storage and network file shares.

“If you want to increase your chances of recovering a file, minimize or avoid using your computer. In the Windows file system, the space used by a deleted file is marked as free space, which means the file data can still exist and be recovered. But any use of your computer can create files, which may over-write this free space at any time,” reads Microsoft statement.

Different Types of Modes

Default mode: It works by checking the Master File Table (MFT) and file Record Segments (FRS) to locate the lost file.

Segment mode: This mode does not require MFT, but require segment information that stores in the MFT such as name, date, size, type, and the cluster/allocation unit index.

Signature mode: It requires only the file present in the system and doesn’t work for small files, if you are to recover from the external storage device, such as a USB drive, then you should use only Signature mode.

“Try Signature mode, which expands beyond NTFS recovery and caters to your storage device needs. Let this app be your first choice for helping to find what you need from your hard drive, SSD (*limited by TRIM), USB drive, or memory cards,” reads Microsoft post.

Features

  • Target file names, keywords, file paths, or extensions in your recovery
  • Recovers JPEG, PDF, PNG, MPEG, Office files, MP3 & MP4, ZIP files and more
  • Recover from HDD, SSD, USB, and memory cards
  • Supports NTFS, FAT, exFAT and ReFS file systems

The tool can be downloaded from the Windows app store, the app requires Windows 10 build 19041 or later to install and recover files. You can check your Windows version here.
