WinRAR 7.10 Latest Version Released – What’s New!

The popular file compression and archiving tool, WinRAR 7.10, has released with new features, interface enhancements, and improved performance.

WinRAR 7.10 represents a landmark update that modernizes core components while addressing evolving user needs in data management and system security.

It supports fast email transmission, organized data storage, and works with all major file formats.

Enhanced Interface and Settings

The “Settings/General” page has been split into “Settings/Interface” and “Settings/System” sections for better organization. Navigation now uses vertical tabs instead of horizontal ones.

A dedicated dark mode has been introduced. Users can toggle between dark and light modes or sync with Windows’ color mode settings via the “Color mode” option in “Settings/Interface.”

A new “Large memory pages” option in “Settings/System” allows the use of 2 MB memory pages instead of the default 4 KB for large memory allocations during compression and extraction. This improves speed, especially with larger compression dictionaries.

According the WinRAR 7.10 release notes, The RAR compression algorithm now supports multiple Windows processor groups, enabling it to utilize up to 64 logical processors. This enhancement significantly boosts compression performance on high-end systems.

Security and Privacy Enhancements

A new “Zone value only” option in “Settings/Security” lets users control how much Mark of the Web (MoTW) data is propagated when handling archives. This feature helps balance file source identification with privacy concerns.

“”Zone value only” option in “Settings/Security” dialog controls if archive Mark of the Web propagation includes only the security zone value or all available fields.” WinRAR said.

MoTW propagation has been refined for nested archives, ensuring that security data is applied consistently to files extracted from such archives.

Advanced Compression Options

Users can now choose between “Auto,” “Always on,” or “Disable” for delta and executable compression in the advanced parameters menu. The “Auto” setting optimizes speed by disabling these options for faster compression methods.

Compression profiles are now displayed above extraction commands in the context menu for better accessibility.

Separator lines have been added to group commands logically, improving usability.

Other Notable Changes

Windows Vista and 32-bit Windows are no longer supported. WinRAR now requires Windows 7 x64 or later, although 32-bit self-extracting modules remain available.

Environment variables have been updated: the default set of RAR switches is now stored under “RARINISWITCHES” instead of “RAR,” resolving conflicts with batch scripts.

Custom completion messages can now be defined for SFX archives via the new “Completion message title” and “Completion message text” options.

Bug Fixes and Stability Improvements

Several bugs have been addressed in this release:

• Fixed an issue where files added to semi-solid RAR archives could become corrupted.
• Resolved memory allocation inefficiencies when using certain compression methods with large dictionaries.
• Improved folder navigation behavior during extraction when specific options were enabled.
• Corrected archive update prompts when multiple files with sequential dates were created from within an archive.
