A recently disclosed security vulnerability in CrushFTP, identified as CVE-2025-2825, has become the target of active exploitation attempts following the release of publicly available proof-of-concept (PoC) exploit code.

Shadowserver Foundation, a reputable cybersecurity monitoring organization, disclosed the alarming surge in attacks based on the PoC via their official announcement on X.

According to their analysis, as of March 30, 2025, there are still 1,512 unpatched instances of CrushFTP exposed and vulnerable to exploitation.

CrushFTP, a popular file transfer server used for secure data exchange, has been flagged for a critical flaw that allows attackers to execute arbitrary code on affected systems.

The vulnerability, CVE-2025-2825, has been categorized as a severe security risk.

Following the release of the exploit code, malicious actors have seized the opportunity to target vulnerable systems, which could lead to unauthorized access, data breaches, or even a complete compromise of affected servers.

Shadowserver’s dashboard tracking shows a spike in exploitation attempts globally, reflecting the widespread interest among attackers in leveraging the vulnerability.

“CrushFTP CVE-2025-2825 exploitation attempts based on publicly available PoC exploit code are being observed,” Shadowserver stated in their notification.

With over 1,500 known vulnerable instances still active, the risk is significant.
