Design and Display
The device looks sleek and really good, especially in its 6.4-inch Super AMOLED screen. The device has the same size as the Galaxy A30 and the recent Galaxy M30. The bezels are kept very thin- all thanks to the new Infinity-U notch. The device comes along with the in-display fingerprint sensor. It isn’t the ultrasonic sensor used in flagship devices like Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10+. But still, in this range, it is a nice takeaway.
The rear panel feels like polycarbonate as the company has not declared what they have used at the back. Under the strong light, you can see some patterns forming at the rear. On the rear, you can see a triple rear vertical camera setup on the upper left. This looks like the 2018 Galaxy A7.
At the right, you will find power and volume buttons which can be reached easily while at the left, the dual-SIM tray with its dedicated microSD card slot takes the place. On the bottom, there’s a USB Type-C port, a 3.5mm headphones socket, and a speaker grille.
Coming to the display, the Samsung Galaxy A50 packs a Super AMOLED 16.21cm (6.4”) FHD+ Infinity-U Display with 1080×2340-pixel resolution. This is the new display which Samsung has brought for its mid-range devices. The Infinity-U Display gives the device a 91.6 percent screen-to-body ratio which makes the screen look pretty big. The colors come out bright and vivid- no complaints in the display department.
Performance
Under the hood, Galaxy A50 has an octa-core Samsung Exynos 9610 SoC which is an uplift to the Exynos 7904. The chipset is coupled with 4GB RAM and 64 GB of inbuilt storage. The other variant comes in 6GB RAM and 64GB inbuilt storage. The storage can be further expanded up to 512GB via a microSD card. The performance of the device is really smooth and sound as you will no lags or hiccups during multitasking or heavy tasking. In the gaming sessions too, one can play games like PUBG Mobile and Asphalt 9 Legends at high graphics renders with ease.
The in-display fingerprint sensor might be a USP of this phone but it has its drawbacks too. The sensor recognizes the finger slow- takes two seconds approx which is a little disappointing. The sound quality too isn’t very clear but the mono speaker gives pretty loud music.
Cameras and Battery Life
Coming to the camera, the triple rear camera includes a primary 25MP (F1.7) lens, an 8MP (F2.2) camera, and a 5MP (F2.2) camera. For selfies, there is a 25MP (F2.0) front shooter. The cameras are nice and sound as the details out of the captures come out with nice detailing and aesthetics. Under the low light, the camera went down tad bit with noises. But, overall the cameras got a thumbs up.

But, if we compare it to Poco F1 which has Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor in the same price frame, then it will be really harsh to A50. Also, Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro is on its way with Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 SoC, 48-megapixel primary camera, and many other quality specs. Not to forget, Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro has its starting price of Rs. 13,999.
Even what is in the market, Samsung is still a nice choice- just because it’s Samsung after all. it gets a nice set of features and works smoothly and sound too- so it is a nice choice too.
