CVE Details

The vulnerabilities affecting Adobe Acrobat involve a combination of out-of-bounds reads and a memory corruption issue, all of which are linked to the font functionality within the software.

  • TALOS-2025-2134 (CVE-2025-27163) and TALOS-2025-2136 (CVE-2025-27164): These are out-of-bounds read vulnerabilities that can result in the disclosure of sensitive information. The primary concern with these vulnerabilities is the potential leakage of data, which can be exploited by an attacker to gain unauthorized insights into the system or user data.
  • TALOS-2025-2135 (CVE-2025-27158): This is a memory corruption vulnerability caused by an uninitialized pointer in Adobe Acrobat’s font functionality. This specific issue is more critical as it could potentially lead to arbitrary code execution if exploited. By crafting a malicious font file embedded in a PDF, an attacker could trigger these vulnerabilities. However, successful exploitation requires the user to be tricked into opening such a malicious file.

Impact and Mitigation

These vulnerabilities highlight the importance of patch management in preventing potential attacks. Users are advised to ensure their Adobe Acrobat software is updated with the latest security patches.

Moreover, caution should be exercised when opening PDF files from untrusted sources, as this can help prevent exploitation of such vulnerabilities.

For organizations and individuals seeking to protect against these vulnerabilities, updating software promptly and maintaining awareness of file sources are key steps in mitigating risk.

Additionally, implementing robust security measures, such as endpoint detection systems, can add an extra layer of protection against exploitation attempts.

The proactive patching of these vulnerabilities by Adobe illustrates the collaborative effort between vendors and security researchers to safeguard user security.

Users must remain vigilant and keep their systems updated to prevent the exploitation of such vulnerabilities.
