Parrot 5.0 – What’s New?
In the latest release, Parrot made sure that it has made the system of the highest level of stability as well as flexibility possible. Now that the system has been re-released using a Long Term Support model, it is easier to manage.
There was a strong emphasis placed on cloud computing and customization in the design of Parrot OS 5.0. The platform includes a full range of containers that allow for the use of powerful orchestration tools when performing complex pentests.
A new architect edition of Parrot has been introduced to allow maximum customization of the system, and the Parrot offering has been simplified to allow for the best customization possible.

How to download or upgrade?
From the official Parrot OS download page, you can download the OS for your system. Moreover, it is strongly not advisable to rely on unofficial sources, since they may provide you with a pre-packaged version loaded with malware.
While if you are using an existing version of Parrot OS then you can also upgrade your existing old version to the latest one, Parrot 5.0.
To Update from Older Versions
sudo full-upgrade
or
sudo apt update
sudo apt full-upgrade

However, for a streamlined and consistent user experience, it’s strongly recommended by the developers that you should download the latest version and reinstall it.
But, if you still want to upgrade instead of a fresh install, then don’t worry, just follow the following command mentioned below:-
sudo parrot-upgrade
Once the upgrade has been completed, reboot the system and repeat the process once more. As part of the first upgrade, the system will be prepared and the new repository will be installed. While the complete version jump will be performed during the second upgrade.
