Administrator of The Infamous Silk Road Market Extradited To US To Face Charges

The US Attorney for the Southern District of New York announced the extradition of 30-year-old Irish Man Gary Davis who goes with the online handle “Libertas”. He was arrested in January 2014 for his role as an administrator for the Infamous dark market Silk Road.

Silk Road is known for distributing illegal goods and drugs, it had more than thousands of drug dealers and 100,000 buyers.

Geoffrey S. Berman said, “Gary Davis allegedly served as an administrator who helped run the Silk Road, a secret online marketplace for illegal drugs, hacking services, and an assortment of other criminal activities. Thanks to our partner agencies here and abroad, Davis now faces justice in an American court.”

Davis was one of the three administrators of Silk Road who performed day to day moderation activities for Silk Road owner Ross William Ulbricht.

Gary Davis worked as a site admin between June to October 2, 2013, and he got paid on a weekly basis for his work as a site administrator. His roles including responding to customer requests, serving as a mediator between drug dealers and buyers and enforcing business.

Davis Charged to distribute narcotics, computer intrusion, and money laundering. The maximum potential sentences, in this case, are prescribed by Congress and are provided here for informational purposes only reads Department of Justice Press Release.

Geoffrey S. Berman, the United States Attorney also thanked the “Irish Republic’s Computer Crime Investigation Unit of the An Garda Siochana for its assistance and support.”
