Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey Account Hacked using Sim Swapping Attack

Twitter Co-founder & CEO Jack Dorsey account was hacked on last Friday by a hacking group called Chuckle Squad and continuously posting annoying anti-Semitic comments in his account feed.

Hackers used a technique called “simswapping” attack take control of Jack’s twitter account by taking advantages of cell carrier vulnerability that allowed to send tweets via text message.

Annoying tweets are coming from a company called Cloudhopper that Twitter previously acquired to help with its SMS service.

Hackers abusing the phone number that associated with Jack’s twitter account and if they text 404-04, the text will be posted on his Twitter account.

Twitter explains that ” The phone number associated with the account was compromised due to a security oversight by the mobile provider. This allowed an unauthorized person to compose and send tweets via text message from the phone number. That issue is now resolved. “

This same group of hackers was already attacked a number of YouTube celebrities last week on Twitter and also committed with other including beauty vlogger James Charles, Shane Dawson , and comedian King Bach.

There are some offensive tweets were up for about 10 minutes, and the tweets were deleted soon after Twitter learn this incident.

Also, Twitter confirms that there is no indication that a twitter account has been compromised.

A Twitter spokesperson said the company was aware Dorsey’s account was compromised and the company was investigating what happened. 

OurMine hacker group already compromised Jack’s Twitter account In 2016, and send out a message about “testing your security”. this is the second time his account targeted by other hackers.
