Digital Strike!! Government of India Banned 118 Mobile Apps Including PUBG

The government of India took a digital strike towards Chinese mobile phone applications, and in this step, they have banned one of the most popular gaming app, PUBG, along with a further 117 mobile apps.

Recently The government of India has taken a huge step against Chinese technology dominance in India and banned 59 Chinese made Apps including some of the most famous Chinese applications TikTok, UC Browser, Shareit, Virus Cleaner, UC News, ES File Explorer and more.

Government of India affirmed that the action against 118 mobile apps, which are biased to self-determination and integrity of India, the Defence of India, Security of State, and Public Order.

Moreover, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology also added that the reason behind this digital strike is that they have received many accusations from multiple sources. 

“The Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre, Ministry of Home Affairs has also sent an exhaustive recommendation for blocking these malicious apps.. Likewise, there have been similar bipartisan concerns, flagged by various public representatives, both outside and inside the Parliament of India. There has been a strong chorus in the public space to take strict action against Apps that harm India’s sovereignty as well as the privacy of our citizens.”

This includes various reports regarding the misuse of some mobile apps that are accessible on Android and iOS platforms for stealing and transferring users’ data in an unauthentic manner to servers that have locations outside India.

The continuous growing sentiment for boycotting Chinese products and relying more and more upon Made in India apps and products is mainly storming the social networks and affecting the digital markets, and smartphone market. 

This will lead to a reduction in Chinese investment in the country and also permits a clear report to the nearby country toward its preferred treatment on cross-border trade.

“This move will safeguard the interests of crores of Indian mobile and internet users. This decision is a targeted move to ensure safety, security and sovereignty of Indian cyberspace.”Ministry of Electronics & IT, India added.
